About Us

Birthing Buddies is the creation of Roz Small a Scottish midwife who worked at BC Women’s as a Labour and Delivery Nurse.

In April 2008, Jenny Taylor and her partner Joerg were thrilled at the opportunity to continue to offer the wonderful services that Roz had established.

Jenny and Joerg are both passionate midwifery and home- and waterbirth advocates. All of their children,  2, 6 and 8 years, were born in pools at home. If only we had known of the Aquadoula pools with the first two…We like to say once you go Aquadoula, you never go back!

Jenny is a Birth Doula and Birthing From Within Mentor. She is a member of the Doula Services Association of BC and is in the process of becoming DONA certified. Jenny has completed Douglas College’s Breastfeeding Course for Health Care Providers in order to better support breastfeeding mothers and their families.

Before Jenny was called to birth work, she completed her MA in German Language and Literature at UBC, teaching Beginner’s German for 3 years. Jenny also has her TESOL Diploma from Vancouver Community Collage and Teaching German as a Second Language Diploma from International House in Freiburg, Germany.

Jenny is passionate about supporting women and their partners during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Joerg is a social worker with the Ministry of Children and Family Development in Vancouver.
