Let me show you how to best prepare your body for the oncoming birth of your baby, teach and guide you both through the practicalities of childbirth whilst not forgetting that you and your baby are both unique individuals too…
The PERSONAL PRENATAL PACKAGE includes a 4.5 hour session with the use of a customized labour support pack to prepare and support you through your experience. The LSP includes a Birthing TENS machine (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), a birthing ball and small pump, a dolphin massager, two relaxation CDs, Birthing from Within’s Pain Coping CD for parents, a copy of The Birth Partner, The 3 Rs DVD, and Dr Jack Newman’s breasftfeeding DVD . Following the birth of your baby, breastfeeding & postpartum support is offered upon collection of the LSP.
The ‘one to one’ tutorial is given by myself, Jenny, an experienced Birth Doula, Birthing From Within Mentor and mother of three. Visual aids, pictoral flip charts and DVD’s are incorporated into the tutorial to enhance your interactive learning experience. Questions are always encouraged and answered appropriately in order to meet your needs individually.
WHAT DO YOU OFFER AS A PRENATAL CLASS?
A home visit is arranged between 32-40 weeks to meet with you and your birth partner to prepare you for your childbirth experience. The interactive class is given in the comfort of your own home and lasts 4.5 hours. A small pictoral flip chart, presentation folder and visual teaching aids are used to enhance your learning experience. You can have two 2.5-hour sessions if you prefer. Its fun and you will be surprised where the time actually goes.
WHAT DO I NEED TO PROVIDE FOR THE CLASS?
It is asked that you choose a room that is free from distraction and one in which you feel relaxed and comfortable. A DVD player or laptop/computer is required to view 2 DVDS.
WHAT TEACHING STYLE DO YOU USE?
The style of teaching is relaxed and informal and fun. Emphasis is on interactive learning with lots of questions encouraged throughout. No note taking required as an informative binder is given at the end for your reference.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE TO ENABLE YOU TO TEACH PRENATAL?
Teaching Beginner’s German at UBC, while completing my MA in German Langauge and Literature, and ESL at Bodwell Language SchooI, after completing my TESOL diploma at Vancouver Community College, has provided me with a solid teaching background.
My passion for birth led to my Birth Doula training and journey as a Birthing From Within Mentor. I have given birth three times myself and have attended many births. I am constantly reading books and articles on birth and view as many DVDs on birth as I can.

You just give me a call when you would like me to collect the Labour Support Package. Further questions you may have at that time can be discussed. Breastfeeding support offered.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
It costs $300.00, which includes travel to Vancouver, Burnaby, New West and the North Shore (a $30.00 travel fee will be added for other areas), the Personal Prenatal class, the use of a Labour Support Package as well as Breastfeeding support and advice on return to collect the pack in the postpartum period. YOU WILL ALSO BE GIVEN AN INVOICE TO SUBMIT TO YOUR EXTENDED HEALTH PLAN TO RECLAIM $102.00 FOR THE USE OF THE BIRTHING TENS.
WHEN DO I PAY FOR THE CLASS?
Payment is made on the day of the class by cheque made payable to ‘Birthing Buddies’ please. No deposit required.

A $30 fee is added for travel, delivery & collection of your Labour support toolkit. I travel to all areas in Metro Vancouver.

ONCE YOUR BABY IS BORN AND JENNY RETURNS TO YOUR HOUSE, YOU CAN AGAIN ASK QUESTIONS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU. EXTRA BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT IS ON AVAILABLE AND THE TOOLKIT IS TAKEN AWAY AT THAT POINT TOO. IT IS PEACE OF MIND TO KNOW A FRIENDLY FACE WILL RETURN TO SUPPORT YOU ONCE YOU ARE AT HOME WITH YOUR BABY. IT IS QUITE A UNIQUE PACKAGE TO HAVE!
